Why does the info in lot details not reflect the actual condition of the vehicle?

Our Member Terms and Conditions, which the member accepts when they register, states that all vehicles are sold "AS-IS WHERE-IS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR MERCHANTABILITY."

'Run & Drive' or 'Engine Start' are terms that are used to indicated how the vehicle performed when it was inventoried by Copart staff. Copart does not guarantee it will start or move forward under its own power at the time the vehicle is picked up. As such it is recommended that members inspect vehicles in person prior to bidding, you may also choose to use an inspector service prior to bidding on the vehicle (please note inspectors cannot do any work on the vehicle on Copart grounds).

If a member believes that Copart has listed some details 'incorrectly' members should bring this to the attention of management prior to bidding/ the auction. Once the lot is sold and leaves the property, there’s nothing that Copart can do to assist.

What is the price of vehicles sold in the auction? Where can I check the price a lot sold for?

You may track multiple lots in the live auction to get an idea of how much vehicles might sell for in the auction.

If you do not want to go through the auction process, you can choose vehicles in the Buy It Now category. You may purchase these vehicles immediately for a set price or submit an offer to the seller and wait for their response.

We do not publish data on how much units are sold for in the auction.

How can I find out more information about a vehicle before bidding on it?

  • If you can, visit the yard in person to look at the car before bidding.

  • If you can’t view the vehicle yourself you may hire an inspector. Inspectors can assist you in making smart buying decision. These people do not work for Copart and as such are a representative of the buyer.

  • Request a vehicle condition report. If available, you will find this option available on the lot details page. Learn more about Copart vehicle condition reports.

  • Purchase another report such as an EpicVIN report or AutoCheck report to verify the history of the vehicle

  • Search for the vehicle using the VIN number to see if you can find earlier pictures of the car.
