Join the Auctions

Prior to Bidding

You can start bidding as soon as your account is active (you have submitted the necessary registration forms and documents and have been notified by email that your account is now active). Remember if you are a Basic Member and you’d like to place bids higher than $2,000, you’ll need to add a deposit or add a deposit that is 10% of the maximum total amount you plan to bid on a vehicle or upgrade to Premier beforehand.

If you are a Premier Member, you can place bids up to $100,000 daily after your account is made active.

Here are a few tips before you decide to bid in your first auction:

• Consider using the Pre-Bid automatic bidding function. Set your starting preliminary bid, then set your Max Bid and let Copart do the bidding for you.
• Be sure to check the location of the vehicle you want to purchase. This can help you plan for shipping costs and other transportation related expenses.
• Don’t forget about Copart’s fees when financially planning for your purchase(s).
• Pay quickly and pick up your vehicles so you won’t have to pay storage fees.

Joining Copart Auctions

After ensuring your registration is complete and you have the necessary licenses to bid, you are ready to find the vehicles you like and submit a preliminary bid or join any of the live auctions online.

Once you’re signed in, you can click on the Auctions tab to see Today’s Auctions. This allows you to directly join any ongoing live auctions. The Auctions Calendar allows you to view future auctions (this page is updated as new auctions are added). There are a few other entry areas that will allow you to join the auctions as well, these include the Copart homepage, Member Dashboard and individual Location pages.

Ultimately, you’ll be directed to the Auctions Dashboard, where Basic and Premier Members can add as many auctions as are running at that particular time (non-Members and Registered Guests may only view one auction at a time).

Joining Auctions on Copart Mobile

Joining an auction from your mobile device is just as easy as it is from your computer. Using Copart Mobile, tap on Today’s Auctions, and look for the red “Auction in Progress” notice. One more tap on one of these live sales, and you’re placed directly into the auction. Remember to sign in if you plan to bid. If you tap on an upcoming auction instead of a live auction, you’ll be directed to that location’s Sale List, where you can preview the vehicles coming up for auction soon.

Auction Times

Auctions on Copart.ca start at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Local Time.

Copart Canada also holds specialty auctions throughout the week, such as our DRIVE Wholesale auction that is held each Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET. Our DRIVE Wholesale auction features our best selection of clean titled, run and drive verified used car, trucks & SUVs.

You’ll find that many of our sales contain multiple lanes, which are subsets of all the items up for bid during any given live auction. The number of lanes concurrently running depends on the sale’s inventory size. Larger sales will have several lanes, whereas sales with minimal inventory will have fewer lanes. Lanes are assigned based on vehicle item numbers, which indicate vehicle type and condition.
