Inspecting vehicles at Copart
Guidelines, Tips and Safety Rules
Members have the option to inspect vehicles themselves, in person, they can also enlist a third-party inspector for help. Inspectors can give a more experienced assessment of a vehicle’s condition.
Inspection Safety Rules and Guidelines
When you or your inspector is visiting a Copart facility to inspect a vehicle, they must follow these guidelines to ensure a safe visit.

Always be aware of the location of loaders and heavy equipment.

Safety vests and closed-toe shoes are required at all times (you will not be permitted into the yard without proper footwear).

Buyers will only be allowed to view and inspect vehicles in designated sale rows.

Inspection is limited to vehicles that are currently listed for sale.

Tools of any kind, including diagnostic code readers, are not allowed in the yard. See a staff member if you need assistance with a vehicle.

As a safety precaution, please do not attempt to start a vehicle without a Copart employee present.

Vehicles cannot be test driven.

Please prepare a list of vehicles you wish to inspect prior to arriving at the yard, this will save time both in the office and in the yard.

Research with Vehicle Reports
In addition to viewing a vehicle’s photos and descriptions on our website or mobile app, there are a variety of vehicle condition and history reports available through the Copart website which aim to give our members a more complete picture of a vehicle’s history. These include AutoCheck, Vehicle Condition Reports, EpicVIN and Market Guide Reports. Not all reports are available for all vehicles. Using these vehicle history and condition reports can give you more peace of mind about your potential purchase.
